Week in Review: Accomplishments and Progress
2025 Road Program
Curb and gutter removal and forming work was completed for all marked locations along Center Street, along with all sidewalk sections scheduled for replacement. Structure adjustments in the curb line were also completed. In addition, the sanitary utility along Route 83 was televised.
North Alley Utility Burial
The subcontractor completed the installation of communication manholes for AT&T in the North Alley.
2025 North Alley Streetscape Masonry Improvements
Brickwork and capping stone installation for the trailer enclosure behind The Freeze was completed this week.
Looking Ahead: Planned Activities
Next week, the contractor anticipates completing concrete curb and sidewalk work along Center Street. Structure adjustments in the asphalt on Center Street are expected to begin, and underground utility installation is planned for the Grayslake Feed Sales parking lot mid-week. Milling operations are scheduled to begin in the Prairie Crossing Alleys and Prairie Trail areas.
In the North Alley, the trailer enclosure is expected to be completed once brick washing is finished, weather permitting.
Community Impact: What to Expect
A small section of parking behind The Freeze is being utilized for staging equipment. As work continues in the North Alley, the Slusser Street exit will be closed periodically, with traffic being redirected to Hawley Street as necessary.
Construction signage has been placed in the downtown area in preparation for the 2025 Road Program. Work related to this program is expected to begin soon. As part of the Road Program, Pace Bus Route 570 will be rerouted, see here for more information.
Residents, patrons, and visitors are encouraged to exercise caution and be aware of signage and flaggers identifying changes in vehicle and pedestrian traffic within the project area. Please watch for construction signage, follow all posted traffic control measures, and visit this website for weekly updates throughout the duration of the project.
