Road Program, Utility Work, and Masonry Completion

Week in Review: Accomplishments and Progress

2025 Road Program
All concrete work for this phase of the project has been poured and forms removed. Underground utility improvements and utility pole base removal were completed at the Grayslake Feed Store. Half of the required structure adjustments within the project area were completed, and milling was finished along Prairie Trail and the Prairie Crossing Alleys. Coordination also began between IDOT and Meade to advance work at the intersection of Route 83 and Center Street.

North Alley Utility Burial
The North Alley was cleared of construction debris and swept in preparation for the installation of secondary ComEd electrical services.

2025 North Alley Streetscape Masonry Improvements
The contractor completed washing all brick and stonework on the trailer enclosure behind The Freeze.

Looking Ahead: Planned Activities

Next week, crews plan to complete the remaining structure adjustments and remove the stamped concrete at intersection locations. Following milling operations throughout the week, a leveling binder is scheduled to be placed.

Community Impact: What to Expect

As work continues in the North Alley, the Slusser Street exit will be closed periodically, with traffic being redirected to Hawley Street as necessary.

Construction signage has been placed in the downtown area for the 2025 Road Program. As part of the Road Program, Pace Bus Route 570 will be rerouted, see here for more information.

Residents, patrons, and visitors are encouraged to exercise caution and be aware of signage and flaggers identifying changes in vehicle and pedestrian traffic within the project area. Please watch for construction signage, follow all posted traffic control measures, and visit this website for weekly updates throughout the duration of the project.
